Incredible day for England as they got down to the last six in the Euros. Some people started predicting they'd get to the last five by 8pm tomorrow but that's the kind of arrogance that can lead to disaster. Football is a very unpredictable game. Just be happy with being in the last six guys and let's see what happens.
We hit the halfway point of 2021 today. Maybe it's just because I haven't been drunk, but it actually feels like a long half year to me, but I suppose I've had to deal with some stuff. That all feels like a very long time ago though. Doing that film in January seems like it might have been five years ago.
It's a year where I discovered that I really don't want to die. I suspected that before, but when presented with the possibility I found it was really, really something I didn't want. It was a little slap in the face and a really serious kick in the bollocks to make me change my ways. And as harsh as it was, I suppose that has worked.
Not that I am yet immortal, but I am working on it. Ultimately though I am pretty pleased about everything that has happened to me. I think it will mean I live longer, even if I've had to sacrifice part of myself to get there. I am prepared to lose a few more bits and bobs if it means I get to see my kids grow up though.

I still haven't quite got back into a full writing frame of mind. I had a personal training session this morning after not too much sleep and I was pretty much out of it for the rest of the day. But I read more of Askwith's fascinating autobiography ahead of Monday's RHLSTP (still streaming tickets and will be RTing any audience tickets that come up) and did some bits and bobs of recording and admin for the podcast - think I have the guests sorted for the Norwich gigs in August and September at the Leicester Square Theatre is shaping up VERY nicely - badgers will get the news first (this coming week) and I think all tickets will be gone before the non-badge scum can buy any, so become a badger.
My wife wasn't interested in watching the football tonight, so instead we tried out Ted Lasso which has got off to a great start and great to see some of our stand up comedian friends being such ace actors in it. It took me a little while to realise she had eschewed real football for fake football, but that's OK. I saw enough of Italy to know that Italy will win the cup.
I also had a zero alcohol Gordons gin and tonic in a can that tasted so much like the real thing (and was the first non-alcoholic drink I've had that even seemed to have the alcohol kick) that I had to check the can about five times to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. The can didn't change in between viewings, but I felt that maybe I'd missed something.

This week's retro RHLSTP is the now legendary encounter with Stephen Merchant. It's a little awks, but also very funny. Check it out.
