Maybe the last bit of work for me on the book as I worked my way through a pdf trying to spot any final errors. I did pick up on a few important ones - mainly sloppy writing where I'd repeated a word, but the worst thing was a footnote that referenced something from the page before that had totally changed and which now made zero sense. You always know that as you do this job that you will miss something huge and the first time you pick up the actual book and randomly open it, you will be immediately met with a howling error. It's Herring's Law. (It isn't - Herring's Law is actually that whichever locker you choose at the gym, when you return the person using the locker next to it will be at their locker - but that hasn't caught on, so let's try and make it this instead. It could also be called Erring's Law so it is very clever, because adding an H makes it an error and… let's end this here).
I still have the audio book to record of course, where doubtless I will discover many more errors, too late. But I was pleased enough with this first read in over a month. The book still made me laugh and it made me tear up a bit at the end and not just because I was remembering how difficult it was to write it during a pandemic. I hope you will enjoy it too. You can get it wherever you preorder your books/audiobooks/ebooks.

I watched a bit of Gus Honeybun today to try and steal some ideas from the master for my own puppet show. Judi Spiers is the host in this one (she was the queen of Honeybun and is a terrific broadcaster), who is surely the only person to have worked with both Gus Honeybun and Bill Hicks. One of the birthday girls is Sara Pascoe - surely not that one, though I think she would have been about that age. Pascoe is a good West Country name though so there could be others. I think we might get a birthday section on Ally and Herring's Twitch of Fun, but who will be in charge of the magic button? (I think Donkey may have found his role in life). I like the idea of doing birthdays for 55 year old men, though not sure we want to do a bunny hop (or donkey kick?) for every year. Watch this space. Well not this one. The one on Twitch.

A quick evening stone clear tonight, disrupted by a Stone Stasi
member who was very rude to his own dog

And another exciting frame of snooker, though I fear one of the Mes may be having a breakdown. Available as an audio only podcast or on Youtube
