A little skylight on our landing got cracked (we think) in the recent hail storm. At least it was during that storm that the window started to leak and we realised there was a big crack in it. I thought it would be a relatively easy task to call out someone to replace the glass, but so far all the Hitchin glaziers have turned me down, without saying why.
You'd think glaziers would want to fix any window they could get their hands on. It's a job. They get paid for their time. It surely shouldn't make much difference that the window is fairly small. Unless they're doing a big mark up on the glass.

Why won’t they do it? It’s a myftery that even Toyah could not folve.

I know that it must be fun fixing great big windows, but I'd imagine a lot of the job involves fixing small panes of glass that have been smashed by burglars. Also if you only have a small piece of glass there's less chance of two men having to carry the large pane across the road and then it getting smashed by a comical car chase.
Back in the day we used to break a few windows playing football or cricket in the garden, but today's modern glass seems to be less fragile in these circumstances. Or maybe kids are just weaker and can't kick and throw as hard. You'd think glaziers would be leaping at the chance to get to replace an actual broken window, but it seems my window is beneath them.
I've ordered a glass repair kit, which is at best a temporary solution and at worst will go horribly wrong as I attempt to squirt silicone sealant on to glass without knowing what I am doing whilst standing on a ladder at the top of our stairs.
Glaziers do seem to live mainly for slapstick situations and maybe this is the reason they want me to make a half-thought out attempt to botch this.
If you don't get any more blogs from me, then you know what's happened.

It's like Happy Days without the Fonz. Newsround with no Hahayourbuttsmells. Ally and I struggle to remember how to do the news without him. We will recover.
