Disappointingly the injections don't seem to be affecting my appetite this time. So I might not lose another 5kg, but I guess that's a small price to pay for it all essentially going OK. So far. Fingers crossed.
The queue to get into the hospital car park stretched back so far today that we decided I'd just get out and walk in and Catie would park the car in Sainsburys. We saved ourselves over four pounds and I didn't care that I needed to walk further after my jab because I was stopping a billionaire adding more coins to his big pile of treasure.
It all progressed smoothly and quickly today. One more injection to go.
No real lethargy or ennui this time round either. I spent most of the day half-watching Voyager and marvelling over whichever crew member had managed to persuade 7 of 9 that it was a normal thing to wear a completely skin tight uniform. At no point did anyone else think to tell her that she didn't have to wear that. Or that she could put a jumper on.
Don't get me wrong - she's entitled to wear whatever she wants. I just feel that in this case somebody else has told her this is what humans wear and it's fine and not to worry that no one else is wearing anything like that. She's just stopped being a Borg, so she doesn't know. It feels like some advantage has been taken for non-space travel based reasons.
I think there was some spurious medical cause for her having to wear the skin tight metal corset (because it would er... help her... erm body heal from her implants being rejected, yes that should do it). Fine. But she could still have put a jumper on over the top.
You'd think Janeway would have been keen to keep her crew focused on getting home and done something about it, but apparently she didn't notice. Or maybe the people of the 24th Century were more advanced and weren't affected by this kind of thing any more. The people of the late 20th Century were though, as the introduction of 7 of 9 increased ratings and allowed the show to continue for several more seasons. It was probably because the character was so good (the character genuinely is one of the best in the series, but maybe I only think that because I am hypnotised by the costume).
I don't know why I am complaining. It's not like I don't like the skin tight outfit too for the same reason as all the other sad fools who suddenly took more interest in this show. BUT the sci fi fan in me does not like the inconsistency of no one on the starship questioning why this was happening or suggesting she put a jumper on. I can't remember if the Orville touched on this, but it would seem like a good episode idea if they ever bring it back.
Or can we use AI to reedit the original series so that 7 is wearing more work-appropriate clothing?
