People in the UK are notoriously bad at agreeing on anything. We are forever split at 52/48 on pretty much every question that exists. Is it possible to come up with a question that 100% of the UK population will agree with?
I'd have thought the question "Do you think AI should or should not be allowed to generate sexual images of children?" would surely get 100% of the population going for should not. It would seem unnecessary to ask the question but according to a yougov poll only 97% are definitely opposed to the idea. Leaving 3% either not knowing (which is an extraordinary answer, probably worse than just admitting that you think they should) or preferring not to say (and there's only one reason that you would prefer not to say, so that's the same as saying they should).
You might say that this proves that 3% of the population are paedophiles, but sadly I think it's probably a higher number than that. The first rule of Paedophile Club is that you don't admit you're in Paedophile Club. The second rule is don't even admit it in what seems like an anonymous questionnaire because chances are that will be some kind of trap. The third rule is also don't tick "prefer not to say" as that is not a cover. The fourth rule is free membership for anyone under 16. The fifth rule is if we get caught then murder the club leader and try to pin the blame for everything else on Prince Andrew.

When asked if AI should or shouldn't be allowed to "generate 'undressed' images of children (images in e.g. underwear, lingerie or bikinis, but not featuring nudity)" amazingly 1% of the people were opposed of sexualised images soften their views and say they don't know, prefer not to say or (incredibly) about 1% of everyone questioned said that should be allowed. It's interesting where people draw the line - kids being sexualised- NO WAY, kids in bras and sexy underwear - OBVIOUSLY FINE.

You'd have to be a hardcore fan of Musk to be swung round on this surely. I know that people in a cult or who are very devoted to a political cause can often be made to change their viewpoints to the opposite of what they thought before. But surely the most diehard MAGA or Muskrat isn't going to be shouting this one from the rooftops.
People are denying the evidence of their own eyes to justify support for these people. Will they be prepared to come out in public and say that they prefer not to say whether wanting to see photos of nude children is wrong? Can Trump delay the Epstein list long enough to get to the point where 50% of people think it's OK to go to an island to have orgies with people who have been trafficked - it's no big deal. As long as you're sticking it to the Libs. Maybe an island where you can go to fuck unconsenting Libs will be the stepping stone.

It's great to see that the vast majority of people are opposed to AI more or less doing anything apart from maybe offering advice on legal investments (as long as the AI financial advisor keeps their trousers on), but having seen how minority issues can come to dominate politics I am very worried about that 3 or 4% of people for whom the jury is out on this subject.

I did a bonus Emergency Podcasts for Badgers today - and this month at least I am putting the link to it up for paying Substack subscribers too. Enjoy me being asked weird questions by a ventriloquist dummy.
Also below the paywall on Substack (and in the badgers' secret area) is news of a terrific guest for the February Leicester Square RHLSTP gig.
