Tuesday 30th December 2025

I dared weigh myself this morning to discover that all those chocolates and lack of exercise only added about 1 and a half kilos (three pounds) to my weight. Which isn't as bad as I thought it would be and only takes me back to the weight I was at the start of November. So should be able to shake it off in a couple of months.
Oh dear.

It's terrible when anyone dies at this time of year, as they miss the lists of those we have lost in the last twelve months. Would it kill you to wait until January 1st to do this one, journalists? If it did then at least you'd be in the official list for next year.
I was very sad to learn of the death of Cecilia Giménez - what do you mean you don't recognise the name? She's only the greatest artist of the 3rd millennium (so far, but also I am prepared to guess that she will still hold that position on 30th December 2999 - yup any brilliant artist who emerges on the last day of this Millennium will miss out on the award- and yes I know the Millennium really ends on 31st December 3000). It was Cecilia who did the fantastic restoration work to create Monkey Jesus.
Her work will live on long after her death. Unless someone painted over it to make it "correct".
I hope she painted her own portrait for her funeral.

We tried to start the second series of Fallout tonight, but even with the recap neither of us could remember enough about season 1 to be able to follow a lot of what was going on. I'd forgotten most of the characters and nearly everything that happened. The same happened with Severance. I enjoyed both these series but couldn't get into the second seasons because too much of what was going on was a mystery and I wasn't prepared to rewatch the first seasons again.
We should all agree that we won't watch any TV show until they have finished it so we can watch all of it at once. Sure, it'd be difficult for the executives to know which shows were worth doing eight series of. But THAT'S THEIR FUCKING JOB. Anyone can work out what show deserves another series based on how many people watch it. If you have that job then you should be able to recognise when a show is good enough for full commitment. Then make loads of them. So people can watch all of it without forgetting who everyone is.
I am not saying that leaving so long between series is the worst thing about modern life. But it's definitely one of the top three worst things.
