What a crazy thing Youtube is that it can send you down a rabbit hole where you end up viewing something that you’d never have searched for (or even knew existed) and which preserves these throw away bits of telly and can whisk us back decades. Although in some ways George and Ringo might be thought to be the less exciting members of the Beatles, they aren’t and it’s a relaxed and interesting interview. The questions are all the obvious ones, but it doesn’t matter and though George feels a bit stiff and reserved and Ringo is going for laughs, it’s still very revealing. It’s easy, also, to forget what a huge TV name Michael Aspel was. He’s unassuming and polite and personable, but he’s not a showy or even really a showbizzy man. It’s a light touch and it’s mainstream, but it’s engaging stuff. I wonder what George Harrison would have been like on RHLSTP or indeed 1980s Ringo. Present day Ringo might be a handful - will look into it.
Lovely Christmas Eve with my excited young family. We sang carols and songs from the Muppet Christmas Carol (which I hope will supersede carols in future generations) and put out all the stuff for Santa and watched Santa’s progress on Santa Tracker. There will only be a handful of Christmases where the kids are both the right age for understanding and belief. We have maybe one or two more. I am just glad to be here after briefly thinking it might be game over earlier in the year.
I remember so little these days as life goes over me like a tsunami (thank God I've written so much down), but I think I'll remember singing with the family tonight, me putting on a posh singing voice and my son telling me to stop, everyone giving it their best.
The last two years have been slow and fast. It feels like it was last year when everyone went down with a weird illness that had flu like symptoms and made us sleepy (come on conspiracy theorists - was Covid here that early?), but we had our quiet four person Christmas since then. This foursome isn't a bad one though and if we have more time in the house together alone, then that's not too bad. We can sing and dance our way through it.
Amazingly over £14000 on the kickstarter already. Thanks for the continued support of my projects. As always it means so much to be recommissioned by the people who enjoy the stuff (if we are - it’s not a sure thing). Keep supporting us - even if that’s just by listening and recommending us to friends - and we’ll keep making it. And, I things continue to go well, we will make other stuff for you too!
