A tricky 4km run up the big hill in the sunshine this afternoon and although I wanted to give up I managed to keep going. Some way to go to 13 miles, but still lots of time. And the continuing sponsorship is really helping motivate me. There’s no pulling out now.
I returned to the Stocean this morning for the 98th chapter of stone clearing. It was a beautiful morning and the field was so fecund it heavily impregnated a jogger and the sky was as blue as a blue shirt. You also get a bonus half a chapter from last month, where the recording turned itself off halfway through. What a time to be alive.
I struggled to focus on work again, but fear should kick in soon as I realise how little time I have to write six sitcom episodes and a book. I did a few “Would You Rather” using the random wikipedia page generator to help me come up with stuff to ask about. Even though the pages are random there seemed to be a lot about moths. Are there just so many pages about moths that they come up regularly? I wondered what the chances were that I would randomly alight on my own page. I guess it’s however many pages there are to one  (though maybe ten or so pages are about me or a project I’ve been involved with which increases the chances). It didn’t happen.  It wasn’t a particularly good way to come up with questions either as most pages are much too obscure to be of any use, but it occasionally sparked an idea. If you read the one about Princess Anne’s first wedding - that’s all thanks to Ian Wikipedia.
I went to get my eyes tested this afternoon and though bizarrely my long sight has improved I need to upgrade my reading glasses from 1.5 to 2.0. Aside from a little dryness in my eyes, which might be down to chemo or screen time, everything else is OK, but I spent a lot of money on getting some new glasses and I didn’t even opt for the super duper frames (that don’t come with their own windscreen wipers but are somehow £200 more than the basic ones). I then went home and bought five pairs for £20, because if life has taught me anything it is that I shouldn’t be allowed nice things and will also need to have pairs of glasses secreted everywhere or I won’t be able to see anything.
We watched most of Bo Burnham’s special tonight. It’s a very immersive experience on solitude and depression and involves some puppet work that was in a similar area to my own (but he’s bothered to write something, though not learn ventriloquism). It’s incredibly impressive in terms of scope and production, but more sad than laugh out loud funny (though we still have a little way to go to the end). He’s a remarkable (and still very young) man who seems effortlessly adept and very smart. He did a RHEFP back in the early 2010s and then came to see my stand up show “We’re All Going To Die!” Sadly for me it was on the one day where that show did not really fly and where my performance was off. But it was very nice of him to come. He’s also great in A Promising Young Woman. I wonder if I can get him to do a remote RHLSTP. I am sure as with much of my own lockdown work (for others) I just really want to check he’s doing OK. He’s certainly creating some interesting comedy and making the most of the limitations.

All the audience tickets are now sold out for the July 5th  RHLSTP with Off Menu and Robin Askwith have gone (but get on the waiting list because if social distancing is relaxed there will be more to sell) BUT you can also now buy streaming tickets. We’d love to keep streaming shows in the future, so please support us with this. As long as we can break even we will carry on doing it at the Leicester Sq Theatre in the autumn (and if you know you’re going to buy one please do it sooner rather than later as we need to sell a certain number to be able to go ahead with it!)
RHLSTP with Nigel Planer is now up
On video
Last (planned) remote one for now (I might do more if guests are not able to get to the theatre) and last one to be videoed for a couple of months.
