I had another Solero today, but that’s still only one every six days on average in September and only a buffoon would argue that that constituted a problem. Also if I was Fibonacciing that should have been two Soleros. So fuck you haters. It’s totally normal consumption and I have avoided all kind of other calorific treats. I have not lost much weight and feel no different, but it’s something. The kids made fairy cakes today. I did not eat one. Look impressed because it is impressive.
Lesley Manville is currently reading me Richard Osman’s new book “The Thursday Murder Club”. I have to say that it’s very nice of the award winning actress to pop round whenever I have a spare 30 mins to read me a bit more. But Covid has made a lot of people in the acting profession have to take work they might not have had to before. I hope we can finish the book before lockdown 2 gets into full force (as seems pretty inevitable - turns out that believing there isn’t actually a problem isn’t enough to stop a virus - who knew?)
It pains me to say that Osman’s book is very good, hits the ground running, is an excellent idea full of potential for sequels, a TV show or a movie and that all of those things will inevitably follow. It couldn’t happen to a taller guy.
He better sell as many as he can before November 5th though, cos that’s when my book is out and that’s all that people will be buying for the next decade.
I think there’s going to be a few mysteries to solve in this book. I have an idea about the crime that starts the book, but it might be wrong and that might be a different person that the one who does the (first?) murder in the story proper. I think Osman is smart enough to misdirect and confound us, but I’d love to prove myself wrong and outsmart this witty fucking genius. If his success means that he quits Pointless before I win a trophy then there will be another murder to solve.
Probably made that one a bit easy though.
He’ll have to agree to sit down first too.
He doesn’t need my help to sell any more copies. But it’s strongly recommended. Or help your independent bookshop by buying there.

Otherwise it was a day of working through unreplied emails, trying to book RHLSTP guests and writing stupid songs to sing with my puppets - until it was my turn to look after the kids. Haven’t got a guest for next Weds yet, but the next two are booked up - check out the names here. and I am working on doing something a bit different for the 300th episode which is getting very close now (actually I’ve already done 315 if you include all the specials, plus 3 more that we didn’t put out, plus one where I interviewed myself, plus 100 Edinburgh Fringe ones, but let’s not get pedantic).

My appearance on Lou Sanders’ Cuddle Club went up today. She’s a delight, even when embracing on the astral plane.

And we’re coming to the last few eps of Retro AIOTM. We’re going to stop at the end of series 3 and pretend the gas leak series 4 never happened.
