My second and final time of presenting Top of the Pops was on TV tonight on TOTP 95. I haven't watched it yet, but nice to see Twitter light up with comments, pleasant and disparaging. My main memory of this second appearance was that we had the dressing room next to Eternal and the toilets basically backed on to each other and when I was in the loo I heard one of Eternal doing a wee whilst practising her bits from the song. I don't know which member of Eternal it was and I have never found the act of urination or urine itself to be erotic, but it was still a weird thing to (accidentally) witness.
Oh and we met Brian Harvey in the BBC canteen and he said he wasn't a millionaire but he was eating a king size pack of Maltesers (as I believe Stew observed in the intro).
What a strange life I have led.
It is still quite strange I suppose. I listened to the Wager on audio book a few weeks ago on the recommendation of journalist Rory Carroll who I had interviewed for the Book Club. I loved it and wondered if the author David Grann might talk to me about it. It seemed unlikely as he is American so wouldn't even have seen me on Top of the Pops and also wrote Killers of the Flower Moon which is a major Oscar nominated movie. But David replied to my email and agreed to do an interview and we did it today (at 9.30am for him and 1.30pm for me - luckily given time zones this was simultaneous or it would have been a poor interview). He was very down to earth and friendly and I think he had a good time and I certainly did. It's incredible to me that so many talented people give me their time and I get to quiz them on their books and their process. It's almost as good as introducing Cher.
Of course not everyone on Book Club can be great. And the not very bookish RHLSTP Book Club released today with my enemy Ed Gamble  proves that. It's a lot of fun though.
Will talking to all these authors spur me on to actually write a book again? I don't know. I haven't really sat down to write anything for a couple of years now. But let's see if I can get myself back in the swing of things. I've written four quatrains this week, so that's something.

An Eternal wee echoing through thin walls
Beautiful harmony accompanying crude splash and plops
A young me uncomfortably, yet gleefully listening to it all
Yet, nowhere near the worst thing to happen on Top of the Pops.
