My prediction is that Boris Johnson will become PM, call immediate general election and return with a huge majority that allows him to do anything he wishes. Great work UK. The only upside will be the end of Nigel Farage as a political force. But what a price to pay. And even he will probably weasel some kind of advantage out of it.
Who is going to save us from ourselves?
I have always struggled to understand why utter selfish bellends seem to get the respect and support of people. I saw it at school, in my job and in politics. Is speaking your mind, when your mind is full of self-serving nastiness, really that impressive a quality? It’s our fault for facilitating cunts.
Will all this be the final death throes of the old guard and herald a new progressive era where we are keen to think of the greater good? Or is it just a slow slide downwards? It’s quite something where Boris Johnson is going to be Prime Minister and you’re thinking. “Well, it could be worse.”
But I like the idea of him having to sort out the mess he has made. Even though I suspect he will sort the mess out by making a bigger mess that will make us forget about the previous mess.
I wish there was an opposition that was capable of seeing the bigger picture though.
It’s going to be a bumpy ride. Sadly mainly for the people who are bellowing for all this to happen.
It all seems utterly predictable and yet there’s still a sense that anything can happen. What a time to be alive.

The decking was finished today and plant killing aside (they also moved a big concrete slab on top of my wife’s mint plant, but as you know I approve of stone’s conquest of flora) they did a very good job. Apart from stealing our spade. But they’ve left behind a jacket, their broken spade and a heavy mallet, so it might be a fair swap.
And tonight I put the new sunflower plant in place. I mean the subterfuge is ridiculous - it is clearly not the same plant and I think even a 4 year old would be able to tell that. But if she doesn’t think to look at it before the holiday then we might just get away with it. Or destroy her faith in truth. Worth the gamble.
I did if for love, Phoebe.
