5900/18920

Only 100 days to go til my 6000th consecutive entry. The more this goes on and the more I invest in it, the more I have to pretend that this isn’t a total and self-defeating waste of time. It is like Brexit in that respect.
Of course there is no guarantee that Warming Up will be able to continue in the normal way after Brexit, without vital resources from the EU. So try and stockpile entries now if you can.

The final episode of Relativity went out today (though signs are looking positive for us doing more). Thanks so much to all those who have enjoyed it and emailed or tweeted me. You may recall that a few months ago I was writing about how hard it was to do and how I didn’t think I’d make it this time, but as nearly always it turned out fine and I have forgotten about the pain and enjoyed listening to them go out and am keen to come up with more adventures for the Snell family. Why must it be this way?
Sorry for the three months of blogs about how much I hate writing that will be coming up.
After the many years of writing sitcoms that fail to get made or fail to get series (pretty much encompassing the Warming Up years, which started shortly after I’d finished work on the 2nd series of Time Gentlemen Please) it is reward enough just to know that my stuff was acted out and broadcast. Which is lucky as there isn’t really much financial reward to speak of.
I am that rare thing, a writer who is getting his work produced and a stand up comedian who can make a living from touring the country. I occasionally get tweets from people telling me that I am not successful, but the sad thing (and it’s sad for me and the writers and comedians beneath me in the success league table) is on the balance of things in my profession, I am a huge success. I admit it could be huger… and it would be nice if those other projects that I think have worth could have a wider audience than me and the commissioners who rejected them. But never give up… maybe one day. *Checks how old he is, realises there may not be time*
Over the years of Warming Up there have been a few times when it felt like things were going to move up a gear for me and it’s never been quite what I expected it to be. But I am crawling up the hill and as long as my career last another 74 years I reckon I can make the top.
*rechecks how old he is and remembers the conclusion he came to a paragraph ago, but then immediately forgets again due to old age*
It’s all good kids. The real success was the friends I made along the way *realises he has no friends*

And illegally catch up on series 1 here
You can read all the scripts in the downloads section of this website, including about five minutes of extra stuff for each episode.

Extra show (with a different guest) added for RHLSTP in Brighton on April 3rd. Might be worth booking ahead if you don’t want to miss out
