Even at this late stage with so much to do I am prevaricating. I am using an old laptop as my new one is used for the show and I discovered it had Civilisation II loaded on to it.
If I was a sensible man I would immediately have deleted it from my hard drive, or better still thrown the computer out of the window so that I could never start a game.
It's not the kind of computer game you just dip into. Whole weekends can disappear into thin air with this hypnotising marvel. Luckily by playing on too high a level I was quickly at a point where I knew I wasn't going to win, so managed to get back too my script for a second or two. There's a long way to go.
Then I was distracted by the arrival of my flat mates. First Colin and Fergus, a young double act with fresh and similar faces, who I scared with stories of Edinburgh debt. It's their first Edinburgh and they're in a small venue so they stand to lose several thousand pounds each if they sell out. They only lose a thousand pounds more if they don't sell a single ticket. Which kind of takes the pressure off.
Then later Chris Addison arrived from the airport, thinking he'd be here second and get the second best room, but in fact last and thus getting the box room that turns into a makeshift sauna in the morning sun. Ha ha ha! He should have come up stupidly early like me and then he could have got the room with the spunky sheets!
