Still no news from the hotel. Maybe I should stay elsewhere if these people claim to be excited about me coming and then don't even reply when I write to them.
My Vaio is finally showing it has some balls and quite a few of the keys on the right hand side of the keyboard have started to get sluggish and sticky. This includes the return and the apostophe, which is only registering about once every three times I press it. So forgive me if apostrophes are missing from this post. Its not my fault. Its the Vaios.
Ha ha. I am funny. I have satirised you Vaio. How do you like that?
You're on your way out, loser!

I finished the new draft of the script by lunch-time, even though I had played squash at 9.30am. It's twenty pages too long, but that was a deliberate policy as I can cut it all down again after the read-through on Monday (and after that I think I should be able to reveal the cast to you). No Shatterproof ruler, but the Terminator thing makes it through for the moment. But will it survive the next purge?
No. Probably not.
As I was in working hard all yesterday I didn't have a bath all day and it didn't seem worth bathing before going to play squash, but as you can imagine I smelled quite ripe about five minutes into the game. I had figured that the foul stench might put off my opponent, but he didn't comment. In fact it just started to put me off. I was so distracted by my own honking body that I found myself 2 sets to 1 down. Luckily I managed to concentrate and finally won 3-2 just before the lights went out. Everything was going my way this morning.
But I worked on through til 1pm without having a bath. I felt like a proper filthy writer. I would say that the more the stench the better the writer must be, but then anyone who attended the non-commissioned writers' meeting for Weekending will know that isn't true.
Once it was all done and emailed off I got into a very welcome bath, and it might have been my imagination but the water seemed to part as I got in as if it was trying to avoid contact with my funky bottom and fungal genitals. But soon I was clean and it was the water that was dirty. So who wins that battle?
Computers and basic elements may take me on, but I will always win.

But my work was not done for the day. I had to start trying to re-remember the script for my DVD recording on Friday. Luckily I have a DVD of one of my Battersea Arts Centre gigs, so I could rewatch that to remind myself. But the DVD player on my VAIO did not want to play ball. It's no good failing to work, pal. That will just hasten your exit.
My main DVD player is also malfunctioning, perhaps coming out in sympathy for my treatment of my laptop. But I have a portable DVD player that I won in a slightly fixed pub quiz run by Al Murray. I managed to view most of the show and believe me I had forgotten tons of it, so I am suddenly quite scared about Friday.
But the DVD is scratched and so I can't watch the middle bit of the Magpie routine, so goodness knows how that will go on the night!
Technology is conspiring against me.
