Telegraph Review of the Year

Worst experience of the year: Richard Herring

It was hard to believe that Richard Herring was ever funny, watching his Edinburgh show Someone Likes Yoghurt. As though trying to better his erstwhile comedy partner Stewart Lee, who has a genuine gift for overanalysis, Herring embarked on a tedious deconstruction of "One for sorrow, two for joy". For a finale, he turned his literal-minded attention to a comment made by a supermarket assistant when looking over his shopping basket. Hence the show's title. The kind of comedy that makes you want to scream, but not with laughter.
