Warming Up
Sunday 7th February 2010

I woke up at 2pm today, demonstrating perhaps how exhausting this week has been. Late nights and 10 days without a day off has taken its toll. Which doesn't augur too well for the tour, where at one point I pretty much have a gig every night for a month. This is a young man's game!

But I had a pleasant afternoon walking around Holland Park and then buying some books from the excellent Daunt bookshop. The man at the till recognised me and referring to my moustache asked me if I was suffering for my art. I told him that I was a little bit at the moment. I then bought a Charlie Chaplin biography from him, which I should probably carry around with me at all times to prove my affiliations to those who are not in the know.

We then went for a frozen yoghurt at a place called "Snog". What is the world coming to when a shop can have such a rude and saucy name?

Now, as you know, I don't like yoghurt any more than the next man and like anyone I was suspicious about the efficacy of freezing something which is meant to be gloopy so you can pour it over yourself and bathe in it. Only a pervert would want to bathe in frozen yoghurt.

Turns out the frozen yoghurt, with fruit and nectar on it was a delicious and apparently low calorie snack. But the staff apparently don't like it if you take off your clothes and start rubbing it into your skin when you're in the actual cafe it's served in. Especially if you try to lick it off yourself.

Also on this relaxing day off I enjoyed trying to outwit the akinator at this site where a cartoon genie claims to be able to identify any character, real or fictional in just twenty questions. It's quite impressive and managed to get Disco Stu, Professor Yaffel, Stewart Lee and Nostradamus with no problems. It's quite unsettling to see that it was able to pinpoint me from 20 fairly vague questions as well. It took 40 to get Emma Kennedy though (plumping for Miranda Hart the first time) and was unable to locate Peter Baynham (though now I have entered him into the database, so it might be able to get him now). But you'll have fun trying to outsmart it and I think be surprised at how effectively it gets even quite obscure figures. See if you can find yourself!

And for those of you patiently waiting for the Headmaster's Son DVD it should be available by the end of the week.
