I was very sad to hear of the death of Derek Fowlds. Doubly sad as I was 95% certain that he’d died a couple of years ago. A few other people on social media thought so as well. And I definitely wasn’t confusing him with someone else, it was him that I thought had died. So how has he died again and broken my heart again? Is it a glitch in the Matrix, or the crack in my dream that proves that the whole of my life has just been in my imagination. I fancy that I was killed back in the 80s, possibly when I skidded off my girlfriend’s little sister’s bike as I belted down Shipham Hill. Or maybe beaten to death by many of the people that I was unbelievably cheeky to when drunk in my 20s. Anyway, everything that has “happened” since then has just been the dream that flickers in front of my eyes as I lose consciousness and life force and I am very disappointed by the paucity of my imagination. Come on, couldn’t you have come up with something a bit better? This life has nearly been good and has been OK in parts, but as a final fantasy version of a life? Come off it.
Anyway the Matrix or my imagination wasn’t sharp enough to realise that Derek Foulds had already died (and it must be hard to keep track, especially if you’re working in the millisecond betwixt life and death, but I am on to you guys. There’s only one Derek Fowlds. And only James Bond and Lazarus live twice.
Anyway he was a funny man and it’s sad enough that he had to die once.
The curse of Yes Minister strikes again. Has anyone checked on the cast of Yes Prime Minister?
