I might be doing too many podcasts.
Who would have thought it would take so long for me to make that statement? And probably not for you either, cos RHLSTP continues to go out weekly, but four in four days including a long drive to Newcastle and back and a morning where I’d woken up at 4.50am and my stupid children suddenly both slept in til after 7…. I was a bit tired.
And just to make sure we were reaching maximum podcast I also drove my sober wife to London and my drunk wife home (same person) after she’d recorded two podcasts too.
Our kids might not have parents, but boy will we bequeath them some top class entertainment.
I spent the day listening to Robin Ince on audio book and he arrived in my dressing room, just as he was wrapping up the afterword and then, unusually for a consumer of his book I got to discuss it with him for an hour in the flesh. It’s a great book and this was a fine privilege. If you are interested in how the comedy (and non-comedy) mind works then you should buy his book, but if you can’t be bothered then wait til about February 2020 to hear us talking about some of the salient points.
And then next week I chatted with Athena Kugblenu, a passionate and funny woman who could be a great politician if it weren’t for her work emails and is already a very funny comedian and I suspect you will hear a lot more from her.
These shows are special and unpredictable and very different and yet reassuringly the same and tonight’s offerings turned out to be a little more thoughtful and serious than average, but the crowd seemed happy and I managed to drive home without wiping out both of my kids’ parents, so I was happy.
Fans of me losing at game shows will love this new Richard Osman podcast -
The Birthday Game.
If only I hadn’t changed my mind about Cliff Richard at the last minute it could all have been so different.
